Detailed Information
Overview
OASIS is a 2004 Legacy 34 Hardtop Sedan. It is equipped with twin 315 hp Yanmar Diesels, a 7.5 kW Northern Lights Generator in a sound box, a bow thruster, one new air-conditioning and heating units, a full galley, a large head, and much more. It features classic Down East styling and was designed by Mark Ellis. This vessel is very comfortable and well-maintained, with a design that modifies the traditional Downeaster type.
The hulls of these boats are known for their deep forefoots that flatten out towards the stern, offering a balance of speed, a good ride, and fuel economy. The Legacy 34’s hull has graceful lines, including an almost clipper-style bow and a Hinckley-like forward cabin trunk.
At cruising speeds, it slices through waves rather than skipping over them, providing a softer ride. The engine room, well-insulated and accessible, allows for easy maintenance.
The Legacy 34’s interior is nautical and traditional, with lots of teak trim and white mica surfaces, reminiscent of a sailboat. The boat features solid stainless-steel portholes that let in ample light, brightening the interior. The vessel stands out for its seaworthiness, traditional yet modern design, and durable construction. This boat deserves the title of a yacht and offers a near-perfect balance for those seeking to entertain in the ample cockpit and stern area or spend a romantic weekend at anchor.

From the cockpit, step up to the wheelhouse, which features a beautiful white overhead with varnished teak dividers and grab handles, dimmable lighting, and 360° views through large windows. Fully air conditioned with 12,000 BTU MarineAire unit. The isinglass curtains aft can be rolled up for a fully open feeling or kept down for warmth. The wheelhouse includes a large L-shaped settee with ample storage and a deck fitting for a dining table. Comfortable captain’s chairs swivel 360°, and a sliding companionway door makes this area perfect for hors d’oeuvres or beverage service. With two Bomar hatches, sliding side windows, and a centerline windshield electric opener, the space offers excellent ventilation. The helm station opens aft for easy access to electronics, and a centerline hatch with pneumatic lifts allows for easy access to the engine room.
Three steps down (with storage and battery switches underneath) lead to the main cabin. To port, the enclosed head features a stainless-steel sink with a Corian solid surface vanity, a VacuFlush freshwater head, a curtained shower, sump pump control, a hanging locker, a large storage locker, lighting, 110v outlets, and a stainless-steel hatch with a privacy shade. A Whale pump allows for the discharge of the holding tank beyond three miles offshore.
The galley, also on the port side just forward of the head, includes a 3-burner Force 10 propane range with an oven, a stainless-steel sink with a single-lever faucet and spray nozzle, a U-shaped Corian countertop, large storage areas outboard and below the counter, a teak paper towel holder, drawers for cutlery, and a large stainless-steel port. Bomar hatches on both the port and starboard sides provide great light and ventilation.
On the starboard side, there is a large 12v/110v refrigerator with a freezer and storage above. The L-shaped settee, made of buttery soft leather, can extend in width to form a double berth. This area also includes a folding table that can be used in the wheelhouse. The cabin is well-lit with overhead and reading lights and has air conditioning and heat controls for the 12,000BTU MarineAire unit, new in 2024.
Forward of the main cabin is a V-berth cabin with a privacy door and berth insert, featuring a large Bomar hatch, reading lights, and two dome lights. There are two large storage lockers above each berth and a hanging locker to starboard. Upgrades/Refits
OASIS (Name Reserved) is a well maintained and seaworthy boat. Lots of upgrades and subtle niceties that only a meticulous owner would do. The boat does show signs of age in the glazing which is a common cosmetic problem of the Legacy’s of this build era. Overall, the boat is in great shape and runs well. She would look right at home alongside an Eastbay, Sabre or Hinckley.
